MKArts is thrilled for its newest work by MK Abadoo, Hoptown, to move forward as a New England Foundation for the Arts National Dance Project Finalist. Hoptown is included along 40 projects to advance to the final round, and if rewarded, will receive substantial funding to realize its premier in the 2023 - 2024 season. Congratulations to the MKArts team, and all of our fellow finalists.

the first dance, short film by MK Abadoo and Judith Bauer, with co-direction from Torian Ugworgi, premiers at the Dance on Festival by Dance Exchange. "Dear...Love, Sis," is a time expansive exploration of sistering technologies over generations. Also including young dancer and film artist, Ella Abadoo, in her dance short debut, three generations braid together their intersecting worlds of joy, grief, dreams, love, sisterhood and unicorns.

Untold RVA's Brother General Gabriel (2019), co-conceived and co-directed by Untold RVA's executive director, Free Bangura, wins Best [Choreographic] Collaboration from the 2020 RVA Dance Awards. MK and the core Roots cast receive the recognition. Brother General Gabriel's core "Roots," cast includes Richmond-based dance artists, Christine Wyatt, Mena Durant, Julinda Lewis, Monte Meoleaeke Jones, and Lito Raymondo.
